Client Challenge
The owners of a double block of land in Mudgeeraba, Gold Coast, needed reliable retaining walls for their renovation project. The large block had been divided, with a new home built on one of the plots. The project required constructing two retaining walls to support the embankments created during the land cut by the builder.
Our Solution
Australian Retaining Walls recommended using Flush Face Garden Wall interlocking concrete blocks for both retaining walls due to their durability and streamlined appearance. The first wall was needed down the side of the new house to retain a large embankment that would become a feature garden. Access was limited to a narrow 1m pathway, necessitating the use of a small excavator to dig the footings.
The second wall was required at the lower end of the block, where the owners operated their business from a large shed. Our excavator was again used to dig footings and cut back the embankment as needed. The construction team then built the retaining walls using the Flush Face Garden Wall interlocking concrete blocks, ensuring both structural integrity and aesthetic appeal.
Outcome
Both concrete retaining walls were constructed efficiently and effectively, addressing the embankment stabilization needs for both the residential and business areas of the property. The walls provided a durable solution, preventing soil erosion and creating a safe, visually appealing environment for the homeowners and their business operations.
