Client Challenge:
A civil contractor faced the challenge of removing an outdated timber retaining wall that bordered a property, necessitating a replacement solution that occupied minimal space. The need for a compact yet effective retaining system was paramount for this Augustine Heights project.
Our Solution:
Australian Retaining Walls was entrusted with the task of providing and installing a new retaining solution. We opted for a Concrete Sleeper Wall, renowned for its slim profile yet robust construction. Spanning approximately 27 meters in length and 1 meter in height, this wall was engineered for efficiency. Concrete piers were strategically placed at 2-meter intervals, reaching depths of around 1 meter and widths of 450mm, ensuring foundational stability.
Outcome:
The installation of the Concrete Sleeper Wall not only maximized the usable space but also significantly enhanced the boundary's aesthetics and functionality. The wall was meticulously backfilled with 20mm drainage gravel, complemented by geotextile fabric and an agricultural pipe for optimal water management. Furthermore, the availability of coloured options for the concrete sleepers allowed for aesthetic customisation, aligning with the property's visual appeal.
