Client Challenge
The clients in Arundel, Gold Coast, were dealing with yet another failing timber retaining wall. While timber walls can last if built correctly with proper drainage, this was not the case for their property. They wanted a more durable and aesthetically pleasing solution to avoid the common pitfalls of timber retaining walls.
Our Solution
Australian Retaining Walls recommended the installation of a Flush Face Garden Wall concrete block system, which was chosen for its durability and attractive appearance. A cap was added to the wall to enhance its look, even though it is not typically required for this system. Alongside building the new retaining wall, we also removed the old shed at the back of the house and constructed a new one. Additionally, we replaced rotted timber posts supporting lattice screening at the front of the property with steel posts to prevent future issues.
Outcome
The Flush Face Garden Wall concrete block system with a cap provided a robust and visually appealing replacement for the failing timber wall. The new shed and the steel posts for the lattice screening further improved the property's functionality and appearance. The clients were extremely satisfied with the final results, appreciating the enhanced durability and the aesthetic upgrade.
