Client Challenge
The homeowner in Upper Coomera, Gold Coast, was faced with the daunting task of replacing several poorly constructed retaining walls. These inadequate structures required removal to pave the way for a comprehensive property overhaul, necessitating a durable and aesthetically pleasing solution.
Our Solution
After a meticulous evaluation process, a Vertica concrete block wall with nofines concrete reinforcing was chosen as the ideal system for this 2.1-metre high structure. Given the wall's height, we navigated through the process of obtaining council approval and engineering plans. An added complexity was an easement in the front garden, which required the wall to be set back, carefully incorporating this constraint into our design and planning.
Outcome
The transformation involved the demolition of the existing walls and the construction of the new Vertica concrete block wall. This change not only enhanced the property's visual appeal but also maximized usable space by converting a two-tiered wall system into a single, more substantial structure. Utilising the old materials as backfill resulted in significant cost savings for the client. The project's success was underlined by the seamless integration of the wall with the newly installed pool, further elevating the property's value and functionality.
