Client Challenge
The client, having previously experienced the quality work of Australian Retaining Walls, faced a new issue with a decaying timber wall on the opposite side of their property in Robina, Gold Coast. The wall was rapidly deteriorating, posing a safety risk, and the narrow passageway between properties required a solution that maximized available space.
Our Solution
Australian Retaining Walls chose to install a hardwood sleeper retaining wall reinforced with galvanised steel H Beam posts. The choice of this system, being the thinnest available at only 100mm in total thickness, was ideal for the limited space, ensuring easy passage along the side of the house. Additionally, to enhance the wall's strength due to the height and lateral pressure from the neighbouring property, a Platypus anchor system was incorporated. This system involved driving steel rods deep into the embankment, providing exceptional stability.
Outcome
The new hardwood sleeper retaining wall with H Beam posts and the Platypus anchor system significantly improved the safety and functionality of the client's property. The wall’s robust construction guarantees longevity and stability, effectively managing the environmental pressures and providing a durable solution for the narrow space.
Project Highlights
This project in Robina, Gold Coast, showcased Australian Retaining Walls' commitment to delivering tailored solutions to complex challenges. The installation of the Platypus anchor system provided additional reinforcement for the wall, ensuring it would withstand significant lateral forces. The project highlights included advanced engineering techniques, precision installation, and strategic use of space-saving design elements to enhance both the property’s safety and its aesthetic appeal.
